Start your day in an anime way with the Kawaii Market, hosted by Asia Society and Tokyo X (who helped bring TJPW to Texas last year, so they’re alright in my book). The market will feature kawaii crafts, collectibles, artwork, and all sorts of goodies.

It’s a regular Frida Fest over at the MFAH. In conjunction with their Frida-focused exhibition, the curators James Oles, Miguel A. López, and Tobias Ostrander will be joining artist Amalia Mesa-Bains and documentary filmmaker Trisha Ziff to cover Kahlo’s journey from painter to icon. 




Resident Artist Talks | 3:00 PM

Houston Center for Contemporary Craft | 4848 Main St

Learn more about the current residents at the craft center with these talks by Roslyn M. Dupré, Lorena Morales, and Grace Troxell. The talks will be followed by the residents hanging in their studios so you can learn even more about their practices. 

Kodama Echoes Across Time | 7:30 PM

Asia Society Texas | 1370 Southmore Blvd

Circle back to Asia Society for the premiere of Kodama Echoes Across Time, an original piece by Nao Kusuzaki performed by Houston Contemporary Dance Company. The piece draws from Japanese artistry that has become a global influence on pop culture and features live manga illustration alongside the dancers.
