The Hidden Agenda: The Summer Wind Keeps Burning In
How on earth is it hotter? Every day is somehow more sweltering than the next. A chapter from The Divine Comedy. I wonder if Dante is an Astros fan? The calm end of the summer glow is just the sun reflecting off the 300 degree pavement and the mystical wonder of the ending season is the wavy mirage of the steam and heat radiating from the ground. I flick the dancing hula girl on my trucks dashboard but the top half falls to the floor half melted just as the rearview mirror slides down the windshield. There isn’t time for this nonsense and I am late for work. So I put on my insulated grilling gloves, grip the glowing stirring wheel and make my way to my day. Once the air gets to blasting I suppose I’ll replace the “ Why do I stay in Texas during the summer” with “What is on the Agenda this week”?

Another great production in the works from Emily Hynds. No Kiss is Hynds’s new creative endeavor fresh to the stage or in some cases the living room.
No Kiss is described as a darkly comedic play that starts mid-catastrophe: a break up. Sam and Jack have been together for years but something cracked and Sam can't take it anymore, which is news to Jack. Witty banter and clever writing is always in store. In one instant I had to shield myself from flying peanuts. Don’t worry I don’t think this one has excited snacks. Just the normal ones before the show. It's the end of the run this coming week so secure your tickets now.
No Kiss will be at Alabama Song (2521 Oakdale Street, 77004) September 3-5. All shows start at 8pm and cost $20.

This new exhibition from HCCC is examining the cultural, material, and symbolic histories of silver and its role as a generational heirloom. In celebration of their 25th “silver” anniversary, the show explores the material’s enduring presence within practices of making, ritual, and adornment and brings together contemporary artists whose works reflect on silver’s resonance across time and cultural contexts.Its always a must see with their programming and now a Birthday to celebrate.

First you have Hands on Houston and with every Birthday you have…Candles. This 25 minute activity lets you dive in to create your own decorative candles through this fun workshop. Get your Bday pin and cake ( if you are earlier enough ).
3PM is a Curatorial walkthrough with co-curators, Sarah Darro and Zaynab Hilal and the nuts and bolts of the creation of the new exhibition A Material Inheritance. Its all a must see so go spend your Saturday with one of the best institutions in town.

Sound Bath at The Cistern | 10AM

You can't find a more magical way to round out your weekend than a sound bath at the Houston Cistern. Not only is there an amazing hidden space that you likely have not seen, but there is always an exhibition of light and sound to lay your eyes upon before or after this sound session. Bring a hoodie just in case, sometimes it can be drafty under there and bring a yoga mat to lay upon. This is a treat and your should most definitely support this amazing project. Maybe you will see me there!
