It's Like That is It?!
Well fine then! See if I care. Maybe I’ll just go on about my life and day to day, creating, writing, and progressing a little bit with every passing week. However just in an average sense so as to not slip into toxic positivity. Appreciating downtime or idle self-care moments, because that is also very important. Perhaps like sands through an hourglass these are the days of our lives huh! Like the days and months might go along moving and melding into a larger collective unconscious and lets see what you want to do about that buddy. I just might continue on my chosen path taking each second and hour with humble understanding and internal reclamation.
Yeah, I am aware! That random craft project is still on the work station and I will get to it as soon as I find the right fabric. Perhaps you have forgotten we lost High Fashion Fabrics and JoAnns? That's been really challenging. But you know what, I think I WILL let the sun set every dusk and rise every morning. I think I’ll even let the moon be full once a month, chump! You’ve given me lots to think about though and for that I have gratitude, so thank youuuu. I've been thinking about a great many things to reflect upon and engage within, and so here is your Hidden Agenda.

2026 Oscar Nominated Short Films
Animation, 5pm | Live Action 7:30pm
Short Films get lost under the glitter and spotlight of the bangers and blockbusters of the Oscars. So every year I try to do my due diligence and dive into the smaller or less publicized categories. Thankfully the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and Brown Auditorium have done the leg work for us and will be showing both of these segments this Thursday. Pick one or treat yourself and do a double feature!

Mud+Corn+Stone+Blue | 6PM - 8PM
Lawndale Art Center | 4912 Main St
An enticing opening this Friday at Lawndale Art Center curated by Laura Augusta. Firing on all cylinders Augusta brings this powerful look into the political and economic turmoil within the United States and Central America is a must.
“Across its long timeline, the exhibition centers on the years 1979-1981 to illustrate the overlap between the U.S. farming recession and the worst years of the armed conflicts in Central America, and how they are grounded in the same political and economic decisions around farming practices, ideas of land ownership and stewardship, migrant labor, and agricultural export”.
In Houston, Mud + Corn + Stone + Blue is presented at both Blaffer Art Museum (January 17 – March 14, 2026) and Lawndale Art Center (February 27 – May 2, 2026).

Opening: Clutch City Craft
Houston Center for Contemporary Craft | 4848 Main
Opening this Friday! “Clutch City Craft examines the craft traditions and material cultures that have shaped Houston into one of the nation’s most formidable centers of making. Spanning both the front and main galleries at HCCC, the show features a wide spectrum of making practices, from the artists behind century-old, mosaic street signs to cowboy boot makers and fiber artists who design space suits and preserve the woven interiors of NASA mission control”.
The evening will also feature the opening of Asher: Off the Wall’s Clutch City Collection, which features works for sale by Alam Lalani, Morgan Hill, and other artists in celebration of the exhibition. The exhibition and evening sprouts from the master mind and curator Sarah Darro and is presented with Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026, a national semiquincentennial initiative organized by Craft in America and the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum to showcase the central role of handmade knowledge in shaping American life. What we know is it's Go Texans Day and we are prompted by HCCC to sport our finest Western Wear so go on and Git To It!

Prince Varughese Thomas: A House Divided | 5pm - 7pm
Hook - Epstein Galleries | 2631 Colquitt St.
If you are over in the Colquitt area Saturday, there is an opening by Prince Varughese Thomas. Hook - Epstein will be opening three exhibitions total to also include Ann Johnson and Mayuko Ono Gray. All in part of Fotofest 2026. Prince Varughese Thomas is a thoughtful and selective artist, with his last big group exhibit at the Asia Society in 2019 so all the more reason to see what he has been cooking up. We are certain it will be as engaging as it is thought provoking.
“Prince Varughese Thomas’ "A House Divided" is a series of works that reflects the fractured pulse of the contemporary moment. Borrowing its title from a biblical warning later invoked by Abraham Lincoln, the phrase becomes a mirror catching the light and shadow of the present age. The works in this series stand in the now, where the seams of the community strain, and fault lines run through shared spaces and private lives”. Prince Varughese Thomas is an interdisciplinary artist whose work examines the intersections of culture, identity, and social commentary through drawing, photography, video, and installation.
