That’s right, get back inside and enjoy the AC and some tantalizing events and riveting film festivals. There are plenty of events to check out this week that will deepen the mind and help you forget that it’s still almost 90 degrees out. While the art fair was hopping, our day to day regional programming is constantly engaged. Several days of international films this week at the MFAH the 25–28th. Join film lovers at more than 500 venues across 6 continents to view and judge the work of the next generation of international filmmakers. The 2025 edition of the annual Manhattan Short Film Festival takes place globally from September 25 to October 5, and all attendees can vote on their favorite film and performance. Gloze Museum is a virtual and video-based art museum that reimagines now audiences
encounter art in the digital age, states founder Derek Beck. Sit yourself down and enjoy an hour-long cinematic walkthrough of a fictional museum, where real works by contemporary artists are embedded within an imagined architecture. The premiere installment features the work of 50 artists from painting. sculpture, video, photography and more. vec and music. “Beyond the video walkthrough, audiences can engage with shorter social media features and dedicated artist profiles online, offering deeper context and access to each exhibition”. If you Remember, I’ll Remember: Dario Robleto, 6-8pm

Dario Robleto is the star pupil of the art world. Half scientist, half alchemist. This Fall Houston and Art League Houston celebrates Robleto as Texas Artist of the Year and presents the exhibition If You Remember, I’ll Remember. This exhibition showcases Robleto's transdisciplinary practice. Robleto's work will be on display September 26 to December 21, 2025, with a grand reception on Friday. With several months of events and screenings surrounding the prolific years of Robleto’s career. Included in the ongoing series there will be a screening of his 2024 film Ancient Beacons Long for Notice at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, co-presented by Art League Houston, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and Aurora Picture Show. Make sure to get to this exhibition and if you are able shine up those dress shoes and get a seat at Art Leagues Gala in October celebrating the life and work of Dario Robleto.

Chroma Collective: Karen Navarro
Discovery Green
Chroma Collective opened September 19th at Discovery Green with a grand reveal and a dance performance inspired by the piece and choreographed by Laura Gutierrez. Commissioned by Discovery Green Conservancy as part of the inaugural Art Lab program, Chroma Collective blends two-dimensional imagery with three-dimensional sculpture and mirrored surfaces that invites the public to interact and contribute to its dynamic, shifting tapestry.
The project is inspired by Navarro’s journey as an immigrant of Latin American, European and Indigenous descent, Chroma Collective represents the fluidity of identity while reflecting the environment and the people who engage with the work. Discovery Green has been a leader in presenting accessible and internationally known installations and artists to Houston. You earned a relaxing Sunday, so weather permitting, do yourself a favor and spend your afternoon with Karen Navarro.
